Lynch No Longer the Life of the Party

Jane Lynch is one funny woman. She's popped up in a ton of comedies over the past few years, and her presence on the screen, big or small, brings out the best in those around her. She's a master of improv, so it's a real downer to report that she won't be coming back to the Starz Channel for season 2 of Party Down.

Variety reports that schedule conflicts between the catering comedy and Fox's high school musical satire Glee (in which Lynch co-stars as the cheerleading coach) couldn't be worked out.

It's not great news, but you could definitely look at it from a glass-is-half-full kind of perspective. Lynch elevates nearly every project she's involved with, and Glee (the pilot aired back in the spring after the American Idol finale) has a lot of potential. At the same time, Party Down introduced Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler's mom from the American Pie series) as Lynch's replacement towards the end of the first season, and she definitely brought the funny.

If you haven't checked out Party Down, be sure to do so. Glee hits the airwaves this fall, but you can check out the pilot here.
